I understand that the Reggata chain is in liquidation, that means that another two shops will be closing in Callander ! Soon I will be the only shop left that is not a charity shop. I believe that Fortwilliam has department stores lying empty and that the Gun and Tackle shop has closed, this seems to be a trend that is creeping over Scotland. If I did not have to pay through the nose for council rates and water rates (£90.00 a month to boil my kettle for a cup of tea and to wash my floor) I might be able to employ some body to help me out ! The Government has done nothing to help my small business, we didn't even get a start up grant when we opened to help with a new computer or till as we bought an existing business even though at the time I and my business partner had never been involved in retail before.
Would appreciate any ideas anybody has to help me keep going !
