2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing last week was very good
if not a little difficult as the crystal clear water on most of the ponds has meant you
can see fish coming up to have a look at flies but turn away at the last second.
Anglers have had to scale down leaders and fly size in order to temp the switched on
trout. Dries are still taking fish with foam daddies still taking a lot the most productive
method this week has been the washing line with a fab on the point and a couple of
Buzzers on the droppers - Buzzers that have worked well were black or olive. The
Boathouse Pond is still fishing well to mini lures fished on an intermediate and the
biggest fish of the week went to Frazer Thomson of Dundee who managed to bag
a cracking rainbow of 9lb 13oz - it took just over ten minutes to net the fish which
he nearly lost around the island. The Woodside, any method pool, has fished well
to most baits as well as spinners; top spinners to use have been tiny Mepps or the
small toby style spinners.
3. MARKLE (East Lothian) The fishery has been performing well with some
good catches and individual fish coming off. Chris Barratt from Cockenzie used a
Shuttlecock Buzzer to take 9 on C+R, T Munley from Dunbar had a brace weighing
6lbs on a Nomad, R Kennedy, Edinburgh, caught 5 weighing 14lbs including a
superb 6lb brown trout on an Olive Dancer and John Dyet, Edinburgh had 9 on C+R

on Buzzers and Alan Ramsay, Edinburgh used a Rob Roy to catch 3 for 10lbs 8oz

on Saturday after the frost lifted which made the fishing a pleasure.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was another excellent week for fishing at
Swanswater. At the beginning of the week the fish were spread out over most of the
pond with the dam wall and area around the big tree continuing to be productive.
The front of the island and the roadside were also fishing well. The mild weather
together with a strong breeze and heavy showers saw fish remain active in the top
3 to 4 feet of water, with a mix of lures, nymphs and wets all catching fish. Towards
the end of the week fish were more concentrated in the main part of the pond around
the dam and overflow. Bright sunshine during the day, together with cold nights and
early morning frost pushed fish slightly deeper to around 4 to 5 feet, although fishing
remained good, with majority of fish taken on buzzers and lures. The best patterns
this week were Hot Head Damsel, Crafteye Cat, Cutthroat Cat, Ace of Spades, Diawl
Bach, Kate McLaren, Butcher and Buzzers. Both of the small ponds also fished well,
in particular the bottom end of the Millpond.
