The Annual Trades House Fishing Competition
The Annual Trades House Fishing Competition was held on the 20th Sept 2011 at the Lake of Menteith
Team Skinners consisted of:
Deacon Elect Chris Drapper,
Myself Roger Drapper,
Ex Deacon Tom Macadam.
Unfortunately i was unable to attend the competition due to my periodic back problems therefore this report comes via my brother Christopher who braved the awful weather conditions that they were faced with that day, although according to him the day began "reasonable" it really was not a day to be sat on a boat, basically it was a foul day, the wind picked up and it was a question of seeking out sheltered spots rather than seeking out fish.
At lunch the skinners haul was a massive "zero" as was everyone else! So with it all in the balance there was still a chance of some silver ware.
In the afternoon the wind and squalls of rain made things extremely unpleasant, so much so that Tom involuntarily decided to take a swim and was unceremoniously ditched by his boat partner, Steve Mannion - A Mason.
To be fair it wasn't Steve's fault just a combination of wind and waves (hope your flu is better Tom) .
Chris who was fishing with Alec Graham of the Wrights were near by at the time however Tom managed to wade ashore without help and in true dental fashion extracted himself from the mire, then with a great deal of effort was able to get back into his boat and head for a quick change of clothes .
Needless to say Mason Steve Mannion basically swept the board, claiming the majority of trophies except for the team effort as he was the only Mason.
The date for the next Trades House outing has yet to be fixed, but is likely to be a Saturday in the later half of September.
It would be great to be able to put a strong team together, please get in touch with me to register your interest you can contact me at, http;// www.roger@jamesbayne.co.uk
As convener of fishing for the Skinners i would like to organise a few outings this year if possible, an evening on North third(www.north-third-trout- fishery.co.uk) or the Carron Reservoir(www.carronvalley.com
) and possibly a day on the Lake of Menteith, likely dates would be July, August.
If any Skinners wish to come along to what should be a fun occasion please get in contact with me at the above address or at
rogergdrapper@mac.com If there are any dates that you can not make please let me know soonest so i can organise a full outing. to avoid disappointment.
