Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 02 May 2011

The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 01 May, 2011.

BUTTERSTONE (Dunkeld). It was a terrific week at the fishery with a total of 860 fish caught of which 285 returned and 575 kept. The weather has been very hot and sunny, some thinking too bright for fishing but looking at the numbers it looks like it wasn`t holding anything back. The south shore to the shallows was the best spot; from pikes point round to the shallows was also a top drift and the north shore is also producing some good fishing. Small Black Buzzers were the most popular fly whilst the best set was a Blob on the bob, a Diawl Bach in the middle a Buzzer on the tail. Some fishermen sticking to the basic lures for example Black & Green Fritz and the Yellow Dancer. At the present time there are 3 boats available on Saturday the 7th and 3 on Sunday the 8th of May as well as availability throughout the week as well.

SWANSWATER (Stirling) During the week, with the east wind, bright sun and cold nights the fish in Swanswater were reluctant to rise above 3 to 4 feet in the water, although the fish in the Millpond and Meadow Pond were taking dry flies throughout the week, as the small ponds were more sheltered from the cold winds.

Buzzers have still been intermittent, working well some days and not so well others, but Black Pennell, Diawl Bach, Kate McLaren, Black Spider, Cormorant and Bibio were all taking fish.  The most popular flies for the week were still lures with the favourites being Cats Whisker, Yellow Dancer, Montana, Humungus, Blob and various Damsels.
