FRANDY
(Gleneagles) Last week the tip taking flies and lures included the

(Tullibody) had 7 c/r whilst Mark Ferry & Jimmy Short from

ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY
(Braco) Despite the awful weather with rain and wind persisting for
the best part of the week some good catches were recorded. It was a
red letter day for Tracy Scott from Lesmahagow whose first trout ever
on the fly, a Black Lure, was a cracker of a rainbow that weighed in
at a whopping 6lbs 8oz.
Also
doing well was Robert Burns from Bonnybridge with 3 for 11lbs –
best 7lbs on a Black Lure, C McLaren (Alloa) 2 fish for 9lbs 8oz on a
Damsel, Simon Nicolas (Auchterarder) 4 fish for 12lbs on a Diawl
Bach, Dave Lawson (Methven) 3 fish for 12lbs on a Small Dancer, Ian
Cochran & Gerry Halas from Stirling shared 4 fish weighing 10lbs
8oz on the Yellow Dancer. Davey Horne from Stirling used a Yellow Owl
to bag a brace for 10lbs 8oz – best 6lbs 8oz, David Pitcaithly
(Falkirk) 2 fish for 8lbs 8oz on Dries, Andrew Johnston (Dollar) 2
fish for 6lbs 4oz on a small Spider and John Stewart from Dunfermline
took 3 for 11lbs on Dries. Tom Brown from Killearn had 3 for 9lbs
10oz on a Cat and David Birkmyre from Crieff used a Klinkhammer to
basket a trout of 2lbs 12oz.
Because
there is so much natural feeding in the water right now the fish are
being attracted by bright colours so flies and lures incorporating
bright green, red, yellow and orange are all doing well. The Eagle
Club from Tillicoultry had 10 fish for 36lbs 8oz with A Beverage
having the top bag with 3 fish for 12lbs - best fish 6lbs on a

FORBES OF
KINGENNIE
(Broughty Ferry) NO
REPORT THIS WEEK
This
past week of hot weather here at Forbes of Kingennie is seeing a
change in the fishes behaviour, as the water temperatures rise they
have been a bit fussy at times but when the cloud comes over and
cools down the sport at times has been outstanding. Different ponds
have been fishing better at different times so moving around has been
essential for constant results.
The
Bankside pool has been the stand out pond these last few days with
lots of anglers having great returns in sometimes trick conditions.
The water has become very clear recently and really helped with the
returns. Buzzers have been the top method fished either under the
bung with an egg or squirmy on the point fished at 5 feet. The
washing line has also been effective when the fish are a bit higher
in the water. Dry flies have also been worth a cast at points when
they have been very active. Mr Kirk had 12 fish and 13 fish in 2
consecutive trips on fabs, buzzers and diawls bachs. His best fish
was estimated at around 12lb as well as others of 5 and 7lb. Mr Jones
had 12 on black buzzers under and indicator. Mr Birse had 13 on a
sugar cube shipman’s.
The
Burnside has also been getting very clear with lots of fish visible
on the surface cruising around. The fishing has been a little bit
slower at times but fishing very well most evenings. Again the more
natural approach has taken more fish, The washing line with wee
buzzers is the go to method. Dries are doing well in the right
conditions when they come up. Mr Westland had 21 on size 14 black
buzzers and fabs. Mr Wilson had 2 for 6lb and put back 9 fishing
diawl bachs.
The
Boathouse has been a bit coloured but on the very sunny days it has
been the best pond with huge amounts of fish taking off the surface
in the shade. Mr Leslie had a great day returning around 20 fish on
small dries and emerges. Mr Fulthorpe had a good morning landing 8 up
to 7lb on a pink fab and diawl bachs. Mr Whiteford kept his 3 fish
for 8lb and put back 6 on a damsel.
The
Woodside pool has been really busy in the nice weather with many full
bags being recorded. Green powerbait and spinners have been the top
bait of late. Over the weekend there was a total of 37 anglers landed
68 fish for weight of 115lb.

SWANSWATER
(Stirling)
Unsettled, autumnal weather
dominated this week with sunny days, windy days, heavy showers, and
cool evenings. The fish were around 2 to 4 feet down for most of
the week although some were taking dry flies almost every day. The
bridge and the far bay were the best areas for much of the week with
the dam a good bet on the windier days and the channel in front of
the island also a bit of a hotspot. Tactics were as varied as the
weather with everything from a very fast retrieve to almost static
working at different times. A large range of flies were taking fish
including dries - Sedge, Muddler, Daddy Long Legs, Hopper, Black
Spider; nymphs – Diawl Bach, PTN, Hare’s Ear, Cruncher; the usual
lures – Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Ally McCoist; Buzzers and
Bloodworm. The most successful baits were Green and Yellow Power
Bait, Maggots and Worms. The Fishery is currently open Monday to
Wednesday 8.00am to 6.00pm and Thursday to Sunday 8.00am to 8.00pm.
