Fishing report by Jim Boyd

ANGLING PRESS SERVICES

Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 22 May 2017. The report is for the week ending Sunday, 21 May 2017.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles).  Jim Watson & Dave Gonsales from Auchtermuchty kept 9 fish weighing 21lb, Stuart & Robert Robertson, Lochgelly, 10 fish weighing 21lb 8oz and released a further 3, George Keith & Tam Langdown, Dunfermline, 7 for weighing 16lb and released 2, Jake Spiers and Greig McLaren, Bridge of Earn, caught and released 16. Hamish Higgins from Perth had a brace for 4lb and released 7, Gerry Grattan, Clackmannan, 2 fish weighing 5lb and released 3, Sandy Forgan & Jimmy Hunter, Dundee, fishing with a sporting ticket caught and released 27 and Bill Ramage from Alva kept 5 fish weighing 12lb. Alan Brock Snr & Alan Brock Jnr from Crieff caught and released 9.
On the club front Alexanders FFC kept 35 fish weighing 74lb, Last Cast A/C 15 fish for 33lb, Kelty Artisan kept 18 fish weighing 37lb, St Johns F/F 15 fish for 34lb 8oz and released a further 75 and the Masonic A/C kept 32 fish weighing 67lb.
The top taking flies were the Coral Booby and & Orange FABs whilst the best fishing area was on the north shore from the dam wall to the start of dogleg.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

3. MARKLE (East Lothian)  Dave Smith from Dunbar had a couple of successful outings aggregating 16 fish – best 8lbs on Gnats, David Savage, Edinburgh, 6 on a White Rabbit, David Bullen, Edinburgh, 6 on a Klinkhammer and Joe Beattie, Edinburgh,10 on a CDC. Rob Thom from Haddington used Buzzers to catch and release 5, Mike Blackwood, Galashiels, 8 on a Black Buzzer, Tom Rankine, Musselburgh, 16 on Eggs, John Daly, Edinburgh, 6n on a White Rabbit and Neil Raeburn from Preston Pans had 10 on Buzzers.

4. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The weather was somewhat changeable this week with some warm, dry and sunny days and others overcast with showers.  The water temperature is fairly stable at 14oC and the water clarity is good.   Fish were generally in the top 2 feet of the water with plenty of feeding fish on or near the surface.   The evenings have warmed up and there was a lot more surface activity later in the day.   More anglers are having success with dry flies, including Hawthorn, Spiders and Hopper, although the usual lures, nymphs and buzzers were also taking a lot of fish.    The fish were well spread out round the pond with no particular hotspots and anglers catching all round Swanswater.   The small ponds were also fishing well and some excellent sport was enjoyed on them. The Fishery is now open until 10.00pm every night.
Stewart Traquair, Glasgow, 2 for 13lb including 10lb 6oz Rainbow, Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 18lb including 7lb 4oz Rainbow and 2 Browns, Sandy Donald, Dunblane, 2 for 9lb 4oz including 7lb Rainbow, Barry Little, Peebles, 5 for 14lb including 2 Browns plus 7 C&R and Alan Knox, Peebles, 5 for 13lb including 2 Browns. Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 for 13lb, Stewart and Dean Sutherland, Kirkintilloch, shared 5 for 13lb 4oz including 2 Browns, Kyle Crossan, Stirling, 4 for 10lb including a Brown plus 1 C&R and James Taylor 3 for 12lb including 5lb Brown. John McLean, Livingston, 3 for 9lb 8oz including 2 Browns, bigger one at 4lb, Cameron Smith, Alloa, 3 for 9lb including 4lb 4oz Brown plus 12 C&R, Robert Smith, Falkirk, 3 for 9lb including 2 Browns plus 4 C&R, Roy Hatchard, Alloa, 3 for 8lb 8oz plus 5 C&R and Heather Johnstone, Neilston, 3 for 8lb. Graeme Gillespie, Torrance, 2 for 6lb 12oz including 4lb 4oz Brown, Tom Reynolds, Edinburgh 2 for 6lb including a Brown, Cammie Leitch, 2 for 6lb including a Brown plus 2 C&R and Geoff Gilbert, Isle of Man, caught and released 31 in five visits. Brian Eadie, Stirling, caught and released 11and Rab Cochrane caught and released 9

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The Falcon FFC had a good outing catching 40 fish for 95lbs with the heaviest basket being taken by Jim Russell with 4 fish for 13lbs on Buzzers. Les Mitchell from Edinburgh had 3 for 9lbs on Buzzers, Dave Mitchell, Edinburgh, 3 fish for 8lbs on a Hopper, Hector Wilson, Bannockburn, 3 fish for 9lbs 8oz and K Lacey from Perth took a brace weighing 8lbs on a Hopper. Kong from Crieff took 2 for 6lbs 8oz on a Damsel and Ian Wilkie from Auchterarder used a Damsel to take 1 for 4lbs.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
