5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Fishing conditions were pretty good for most of the week with mainly light winds and overcast conditions, although the cold breeze made it feel a bit more like winter again.   The water temperature is sitting around 7oC and the fish were in the top 2 to 3 feet of the water.   They are well spread out and getting caught at the dam, the island and the roadside, with the boats also doing well on certain days.   Most were taken on lures, with a few taking nymphs and, on some days, buzzers. The usual patterns were successful including Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Ally McCoist, Damsel, Black Nomad and lime green Buzzer.   A steady stream of Browns were caught with one angler, Jim Craig, taking 3 on a size 20 Black Spider in the area around the bridge.   A good number of lovely Blues also feature in the catch returns along with the usual top quality Rainbows.   All three ponds are fishing well at present and anglers are happy to move between ponds to enjoy different conditions.
With the start of Summer Time on Sunday, the Fishery is now open until 7.30pm every night.
