Lake Fishing Report 26/10/15

Fishing is still good at the Lake with reasonable catches considering we are now in the last week of our season. The exclusion zone was lifted from the cages on the 22nd with some immediate success (Pictured left yours truly Manager Quint Glen), but in truth many of the big fish have been dispersing from this area for the last few weeks as fish numbers in the pens dwindled. Displaying quintfish2_w.jpg

Best catches have been in the Butts and Lochend areas and with today’s east wind giving shelter on the Road shore, Kates Brae to International Bay have produced good catches. The fish are not deep and generally floating line or sink tip have worked well with cormorants and black boobie being effective. John Buchanan found the cages fun on the 22nd with a fast sinking line and single boob on an 8ft leader.

Brian McArdle from Springfield (above right) was pleased with his brace of trout for 12lbs 12oz on a floating line – especially as they were the only trout he contacted all day. He caught the smaller one at Shear Point on a Kate McLaren and the 7lber in the Butts on a hot head damsel.

John Levy

We were all shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of well-known Edinburgh angler John Levy. John is pictured right (on left) – netting John Miller’s trout (from a Trout Fisherman Article). John will be missed by his many angling friends.
