The best flies have included the Sedge Muddlers, Emergers, Black Hoppers, Kate McLaren, Sedgehogs and Snatchers whilst all areas of the loch continue to perform well.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) As summer progresses and the temperatures continue to rise the fly hatches are becoming very prolific in the evenings. This doesn’t mean that they have been easy to catch though with fish getting very preoccupied on caenis at times; there have also been some big sedge on the water bringing some exciting chases and swirls. When they haven’t been on the surface it has paid to go much deeper as the fish seek some refuge from the heat.
The Burnside is showing its summer form with fish active on the surface allot of the time, small dry flies and Sugar Cube Shipman’s have been catching them but a Floating Fry has been the best pattern in white, yellow and orange all catching a lot of fish. Mr Birse has been up regularly taking good bags of fish on the fry with 11 in a couple of hours his best. When fishing deeper Blobs under the bung have been great fish catchers and Mr Simpson proved that taking 41 fish over 2 days using the method. The Boathouse is clearing again and this has brought about some improved fishing with smaller patterns such as the Diawl Bach, Crunchers and Cormorants doing well. As for lures Blobs and Damsels have been best. Mr Watson put back 10 with the biggest at 8lb. Mr Bairner had 4 for 11lb and put back 9 on a Yellow Dancer. The Bankside is seeing the fish moving from the first bay to the dam wall in a bit of a shoal. They have been getting caught on a number of flies but big dries and the Floating Fry have been really good again. As for lures the Orange Blob has taken some beating, there have been fish getting caught on old traditional as well. Mr Dickson had 13 on a B lack Pennell. The Woodside has been a bit slower that in recent weeks, the weed is staring to get up quite badly in around half of the pond. Powerbait under the float or on a lead has been the top method as the perch are very active now and worms and maggots have led to them being caught. The biggest fish of the weekend was taken by Mr Ellis with a 2lb 11oz rainbow taken on Green Powerbait.
IMPORTANT NOTE. With the weed starting to get bad in the Woodside it has been decided to turn the Bankside into an additional bait pond through the summer months. This will give bait anglers the opportunity to fish for much larger fish up to over 12lb while bait fishing. The pond will open to this on Saturday the 4th of July. There will be some strict rules on the pond as it is still primarily a fly fish pond. For more details please call 01382 350777/350213.

4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another week of mixed weather and changeable temperatures giving the anglers some good sport with a wide variety of Dries, Buzzers, Diawl Bach and many colourful variations of lures. The fish have been mainly taking on the top or just under the surface, but taking it slow when they take an interest as many are turning away when there is such an abundance of natural life on the top and in the water for them to feed on.
On Friday the Live Line A.C had a good day taking 16 fish for 45 lbs with Roy McLaren taking the heaviest basket with 4 fish for 12 lbs on Dries and lures. 5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The slight increase in air temperature this week has seen the water temperature climbing slowly to 14.5oC at the weekend. The water is very clear and conditions are excellent. The fish are very active in the top couple of feet of the water but are quite fussy as to what they were taking. Anglers fishing on or near the surface were enjoying a huge amount of sport but were not always successful in connecting with fish. Several large fish, Blues, Tigers and Rainbows, are being seen cruising in various areas of the ponds but are also proving slightly elusive. Favourite patterns this week included Hopper, Sedge, Sedgehog, Black Gnat, Klinkhammer, Kate McLaren, Invicta, Butcher, Buzzer and Diawl Bach.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) Last week Damsels and CDCs were working well on the surface with lots of crackling fish being caught recently especially in the evening. On the bait pond float and maggot is still doing the business.
Included in the best catches last week were Pat Harte from Bishopbriggs with 1 at 3lbs, Mr Wright, Kilsyth, 1 weighing 4lbs, Ian Johnstone, Kirkintilloch 2 for 8lbs, Rab Erskine, Kilsyth 3 on C+R and Ross Muir from Cumbernauld caught 6 weighing 15lbs on two visits.
