7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK.

8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The most regular visitor this week was the osprey which has been taking fish from all three ponds and the rearing tanks! Fortunately it left plenty fish for human anglers and there were some excellent bags landed. The cold easterly breeze slowed things at the beginning of the week but conditions and catches improved from the middle of the week onwards. Most days the fish were following the wind, with the dam fishing well in the mornings and the far bay doing better later in the day. A good number of Tigers and Browns were landed this week and they are still being taken close in to the edge of the ponds. In general, most fish have been nearer the margins with the boats not doing as well as the bank. The usual wide variety of small lures, nymphs and wet flies were successful this week with favourite patterns including Dancer, Tadpole, Damsel, Diawl Bach, Hare’s Ear, Coachman, Bibio, Buzzer and Black Spider. Dry flies, including whit moth, were taking fish on the small ponds, especially when conditions were not too bright.

Craig Porteous, Edinburgh, 5lb 10oz Blue, Stephen Anderson, Glenrothes, 5 for 14lb 8oz including a Blue and a Tiger, Jimmy Smith, Polmont, 4 Tigers for 10lb 12oz and George Reid, Glasgow, 4 for 10lb 8oz including a Blue and 2 Tigers.
