Lake of Menteith fishing report

Lake of Menteith 25th
October 2011

13 year old Callum
Steven from Livingston
has been successful again in our young persons club the
Cormorants. Callum won the Summer Season Chase by 3 fish
over Max McInstrie and also won the final day comp trophy, the
Tam Denholm Shield shield with 2 fish for 8lbs 12oz (won at
5lbs 8oz). Many thanks to the Cormorant's youth coach Alasdair
Mair and his assistants for their work in developing these
youngster’s skills. Fly tying evenings for the Cormorants
commence on Tuesday 1st November.

The Lake is fishing well during our last full week of the season
with some cracking fish being landed or returned and some good
bags. Best areas have been Heronry, Sandy Bay, Reedy Point
and Lochend/Tod Hole. Tactics have varied but crunchers, diawl
bachs, cormorants and boobys and dancers on sink tip, slow
glass and no 3 sink lines have all been deployed to good effect.

A selection of some of the fish this week:

Top left: Angus Barbour

Bottom Left: David Sibbald

Top Right: Douglas Fraser “doing some quality control”.

Bottom right: Pat Thomson.

We still have some boats for the Kirk and School day on the 6th of
November. The boat (12 till 4ish) for two cost £40 including the BBQ
and refreshments.

At the weekend Clydesdale Bank caught 19 fish for 58lbs with 6 boats
and Thack caught 44 also with 6 boats.

Official season closes on Monday 31st Oct.
