1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) Mark Sturrock & Stuart Strachan from Cairneyhill kept
12 fish weighing 28lb, Ian Hunter & Party (Alva) 12 fish for 39lb 4oz – heaviest
8lb & 8lb 8oz, Bob Dick & Geoff Hemming (Kinross) 10 for 19lb, George Todd
& Dave McGibbon (Perth) kept 7 fish weighing 14lb 8oz and Jim Sheehan &
Peter Tong (Bridge of Allan) took 6 fish for 14lb. Rob Sinclair & Jimmy Dow from
Cowdenbeath kept 6 fish weighing 13lb 8oz, Alex Galloway (Tillicoultry) 6 fish for
15lb, Kenny MacMillan (Perth) 4 for 11lb, Tom Nimmo (Grangemouth) 3 fish for
7lb and Ally Hunter & Isabelle Hunter (Strathpeffer) kept 6 fish weighing 14lb 8oz.
Robert Paterson from Stirling) kept 2 fish weighing 7lb 8oz and released 6, Robert
Peden (Kelty) 2 fish 12lb – heaviest 8lb and Lorna Kennedy (St Ninians) kept 2 fish
weighing 8lb – heaviest 5lb.
On the angling club scene the Balbeggie A/C kept 31 fish weighing 79lb 14oz, RAF
Northern League 17 fish for 51lb 2oz – heaviest 7lb 4oz, Western A/C 8 for 20lb
4oz, Broughty A/C 1 fish for 2lb 2oz, Mochrum A/C kept 20 fish weighing 61lb 1oz
– heaviest 10lb & 7lb, Kinross Ex-Servicemen’s A/C 15 for 35lb 10oz and Denny &
District A/C kept 1 fish weighing 4lb.
The best flies have been Cormorant, Damsel, Daddy Longlegs, Olive Hotty Yellow
Dancer and the South Shore is the top fishing area.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
3. HOLL (near Kinross) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
4. MARKLE (East Lothian) There was some terrific catches taken last week with
Tommy Dickson from Dunbar using lures to take a 17lbs rainbow and a 15lbs
8oz brown trout. Evan Johnstone from Edinburgh took 3 for 26lbs 7oz including
specimens of 15lbs 7oz and 9lbs on a Black & Green Fritz, Jim Skilling, Shotts, 3 for
20lbs on lures and A Rodgers, Edinburgh, used a Bunny Leech to take 3 for 15lbs.
Ian Burns from Glenrothes had 3 for 13lbs on a Dial Bah, J Burns, Glenrothes, 3
for 19lbs 12oz – best 11lbs 12oz on a Mini Cat. Peter Gray from Dunbar caught a
rainbow weighing 18lbs 9oz and Mark Anderson, Musselburgh, used a Blob to bag a
fine 12lb rainbow.
MORTON FISHERY (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
6. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) On Saturday the Diageo Group paid a visit and it turned
out to be a very good fishing day with only one shower which was a great relief.
The club caught 87 fish for 245lbs 8oz on a wide variety of flies with the heaviest bag
being caught by Gus Drummond with 5 fish for 17lbs on an Ace of Spades.
Also doing well was Jack Gibb from Clackmannan with 3 fish for 10lbs on a Hot
Head Damsel, Ewan McDougall, Stirling, 4 for 12lbs 8oz on a Damsel, Fay McLeod,
Perth, 3 for 7lbs on a Yellow Dancer, Kenny McLeod, Perth, 3 for 9lbs on Buzzers,
Allan Morrison, Falkirk, 3 for 10lbs 8oz on a Yellow Dancer and Jock Millar, Stirling,
2 for 6lbs on a Black Fritz. Tom Kinnaird from Crieff used Dries to take 2 for 6lbs, Jim
Prentice, Tullibody, 3 for 12lbs on a Damsel, Alex Hoggan, Bonnybridge, 3 for 8lbs
on a Grouse and Claret and Harry Graham, Glenrothes, 6 fish weighing 15lbs on
Buzzers. Alex Stewart from Crieff managed 4 fish for 10lbs 4oz on a Black Pennell,
Scott Crawford, Stirling, 2 for 6lbs on a Kate McLaren, Ryan Brown, Falkirk, 4 for
10lbs on a Black Fritz and Andy Templeman, Blair Atholl, 3 for 14lbs 12oz on an
Olive.
7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The tail end of hurricane Katia brought some very wet
and windy weather to Swanswater early in the week; the brave few who ventured out
were rewarded with some good fishing, although fish were generally 4 or 5 feet down
with a mix of mini lures proving the best. From Wednesday onwards, conditions
improved, the wind dropped and fish returned to the top 2 feet. In particular buzzers
fished really well at the end of the week, wet flies like Kate McLaren and Pennell,
and nymphs like Diawl Bach also doing well, along with the usual lures including
Yellow Dancer, Tadpole and the Ace Hot Head Damsel. Friday and Saturday also
saw fish taken right off the top on Hoppers and Daddies. Many fish in the 3 – 5lb
range landed this week as well as the odd bigger one.
