6ft Water Temperature – 16C, Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.5m.

Temperature has continued to fall from the
highs of the end of July and fish are more
likely to be found higher in the water column.
Best areas of recent are still the west end
(Malling shore, heronry, dog Isle, open water)
and Gateside Bay and Rookery. Medium sink
lines with boobies and diawl bachs are ever
popular but with a bit of cloud cover and
reasonable clarity – dries will be worth a try. I
got reports of significant numbers of heather
fly (thanks Willie) on the water yesterday, and
saw quite a few today – and the fish were
feeding on them. The recent north and
westerly winds have helped to drop these
terrestrials on to the water. I also have had
some great reports about the qualities of the
Lake fish these days. Positive feedback is very
much appreciated, but the thanks are also due
to the anglers who are increasingly returning a
greater percentage of the catch. Plans to
provide a pricing incentive next year for increased catch and release options are firming up after recent in house
discussions and with the assistance of some encouraging emails from anglers – following mention of this plan a
few weeks back.

The Fish Hawks held their Inter League Comp north of the border this week. Jock Woods of the Northern League
is seen (above right) accepting the winning League shield from SANA President David Ogg. The leagues have an
annual match versus the Greylags (retired) and this was the first time in many years that the match has not been
fished at Rutland. The comp was fished to a 3 fish limit followed by catch and release and the 19 boats netted 141
fish and returned 65. Ian May of the Greylags was top rod with 12 fish for 25lbs 12oz. Greylags won the fish off –
which shows the value of experience (and being able to spend more time fishing).

Angling Centre Stirling Boat League

3rd August: Ken Oliver got his fish on Dries
on a brown floating line up in cage bay. With their best nine nights counting and only two nights to go Brian
MacKenzie has increased his lead over James Fairly to 4 points. The nineteen anglers caught 38 fish – and all were
returned.

Scottish Club ChampionshipsThe final heat of these championships took place on the 6th August

– in heavy rain. 13 teams caught 47 trout for 119lbs 5oz. Top club was Stanley & District with 7 fish for 17lb.
Second was Kelso AA "B" with 5 fish for 14lb 7oz and third were Monifieth Trout with 6 fish for 13lb 8oz. These
three teams go through to the semi final on 23rd September.
The top five individuals going through to the final of the Champion of Champions on Friday 14th October are;
Andrew Peoples (Kelso AA), Malcolm Selvey (Monifieth Trout) , Phil Hunter (Airdrie & District), Roddy
McIntyre (Lothian & Borders Police AC) and Stewart Fraser (Mayfield Inn AC). Full results at SANACC.org.uk.

for 49lbs, Ellem AC 9.5 boats 33 fish 86lbs. Lothian and Borders Police 15 boats 74 trout for 242lbs, TAC 5 boats
19 fish 48lbs. Last Evening session is the 19th August and evenings are currently finishing at 10pm.
