3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
This past week of hot weather here at Forbes of Kingennie is seeing a change in the fishes behaviour, as the water temperatures rise they have been a bit fussy at times but when the cloud comes over and cools down the sport at times has been outstanding. Different ponds have been fishing better at different times so moving around has been essential for constant results.
The Bankside pool has been the stand out pond these last few days with lots of anglers having great returns in sometimes trick conditions. The water has become very clear recently and really helped with the returns. Buzzers have been the top method fished either under the bung with an egg or squirmy on the point fished at 5 feet. The washing line has also been effective when the fish are a bit higher in the water. Dry flies have also been worth a cast at points when they have been very active. Mr Kirk had 12 fish and 13 fish in 2 consecutive trips on fabs, buzzers and diawls bachs. His best fish was estimated at around 12lb as well as others of 5 and 7lb. Mr Jones had 12 on black buzzers under and indicator. Mr Birse had 13 on a sugar cube shipman’s.
The Burnside has also been getting very clear with lots of fish visible on the surface cruising around. The fishing has been a little bit slower at times but fishing very well most evenings. Again the more natural approach has taken more fish, The washing line with wee buzzers is the go to method. Dries are doing well in the right conditions when they come up. Mr Westland had 21 on size 14 black buzzers and fabs. Mr Wilson had 2 for 6lb and put back 9 fishing diawl bachs.
The Boathouse has been a bit coloured but on the very sunny days it has been the best pond with huge amounts of fish taking off the surface in the shade. Mr Leslie had a great day returning around 20 fish on small dries and emerges. Mr Fulthorpe had a good morning landing 8 up to 7lb on a pink fab and diawl bachs. Mr Whiteford kept his 3 fish for 8lb and put back 6 on a damsel.
The Woodside pool has been really busy in the nice weather with many full bags being recorded. Green powerbait and spinners have been the top bait of late. Over the weekend there was a total of 37 anglers landed 68 fish for weight of 115lb.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was a very quiet week with few braving the gale force winds. Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh had 4 on a Bloodworm, John Daly, Edinburgh 3 on Buzzers, Jackie Hay, Haddington used a Zonker to catch a 9lb rainbow and John Caldwell from Edinburgh had 3 for 7lbs on a Butcher. P Laurence 3 for 9lbs on a Viva and A Baxter from Edinburgh had 6 on a Black & Green Lure.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The week started with snow lying and a water temperature of 4oC; towards the end of the week the water temperature had risen to 9oC before dropping back down to 7oC on Saturday. The water remains very clear and conditions are very good. Although the Browns are not too keen on getting caught yet, the Tigers are more than making up for them with several in the 4lb to 5lb range being landed. Some Golds around the same size also feature in this week’s returns. The fish were in various areas of the main pond during the week depending on water temperature. Early in the week they were in the channel and to be found deep down but as the week went on they moved to the area around the big tree, the Far Bay, Boat Jetty and Dam wall. The usual lures were taking fish along with nymphs such as Damsel, Cormorant, Diawl Bach and Hare’s Ear. The Fishery is open every day from 8.00am t0 6.00pm
Graeme Arthur, 3 for 14lb including 5lb 12oz Tiger and 5lb Tiger, Danny Doherty, 5 for 19lb 4oz including 2 Golds, bigger one at 5lb 4oz, and 4lb Tiger, plus 2 C&R, Jim Potts, 5 for 17lb including 2 Tigers, plus 3 C&R, Joe Potts, 5 for 14lb including a Gold and George Dobbie, 4 for 14lb 8oz including 2 Golds and a Tiger. Alan Armstrong, 4lb 4oz Tiger, Colin Parsons and Mark Bradley caught and released 16 and Rab Cochrane caught and released 6,

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) Despite the very variable weather with strong winds predominating there were some excellent catches last week with, as usual, some fine big specimens featuring in the returns. The water is gin clear and those fishing Buzzers under an indicator are doing well when the fish are high in the water but when they are lying deeper then the usual lure patterns work better. There are some cracking fish ready to be stocked next week including some tiger and brown trout.
The biggest fish last week was a cracking 15lbs rainbow caught and released by Kevin Davies from Hamilton who had 8 in total, Dockie McMurphy kept 3 for 8lbs and returned one at 11lbs, Wullie McCallum had 5 c/r – best 10lbs and Jim Dougie Nimmo had a brace for 20lbs – heaviest fish 11lbs.
