1. FRANDY (Gleneagles). NOW CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 2018

2. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) This has been the best week of the winter so far with sun every day although it was cold. It is a bad forecast for this week so we will wait and see what it is it is like. Kyle Burns from Bannockburn had 4 fish weighing 11lbs 8oz on a Snake, Jim Vann, Stirling, 4 fish for 11lbs on Buzzers, Jim Marshall, Stirling, 4 fish for 9lbs 8oz on a Snake and H Moore from Stirling also used a Snake to take 4 fish for 11lbs 4oz.Gerry Kane from Cumbernauld had 3 for 13lbs 0 best 8lbs on Buzzers, Jim Mackie, Bellshill, 3 for 7lbs 8oz on a Damsel, Allan Mitchell, Stirling, 3 for 9lbs on a Black & Green Fritz and Jim Jarvis from Larbert bagged 4 for 12lbs on an Orange Blob. J Hunter from Falkirk had 1 fish for 3lbs 8oz on a Bibio and T Light from Edinburgh took 4 fish.

 3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Weather conditions in general have not been conducive to good fishing results; however, some decent returns were made during the week. On Sunday the Kingennie Challenge 6 man team competition fundraising for the Scottish Stillwater team going to Catton fishery this October was held. The competition saw 42 anglers spread over the 3 fly ponds, with the rules being very simple, team with the most fish wins. There was a total of 279 fish caught between the 42 anglers and every person caught fish. The winners were Team Fly Box with a total of 51 fish. There were several methods taking fish but flexi worms pulled on a sunken line seemed to be the most consistent approach.
On the Boathouse Pool Mr. Hogg returned 10 fish, Mr. Carnegie released 9 and Mr. Crockett 8 and Mr. Lafferty took four nice rainbows for a combined weight of 13lbs 8oz.50lbs with the favoured flies being the Diawl Bachs, buzzers, Cormorants and small lures (mainly yellow). The Burnside Pool was rather more temperamental than usual but Mr. Ward found the correct combination of right flies at the correct depth to return a dozen fish. Ian Gordon released 9; Mr. Donaldson returned 8 and Mr. Forbes released 10 including a splendid rainbow estimated at 10lbs. Frank Sherriff enjoyed an excellent day on the Bankside returning 16 fish and Ken Jones returned 9 in an afternoon session with Buzzers and Damsels being the preferred options. Location of the shoals has been paramount on the Woodside Pool (any legal method) with anglers needing to move around to try and locate fish. Mr. Armanee managed to get it right with four rainbows for a total of 7lbs. Float fished Powerbait or spinning have produced the best results.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) This week saw some tremendous fishing conditions, especially early in the week, with the slightly milder, sunny days seeing a small rise in water temperature, although the cold returned at the weekend and the aerators were back in action overnight from Friday onwards.  The subsequent drop in water temperature made things a little more difficult towards the end of the week but there were still plenty of fish being caught.   They were to be found at various depths between 2 and 5 feet down, and were mostly looking to chase small lures, including Dancer, Hot-head Damsel, Cat’s Whisker and Ally McCoist.  Viva, Diawl Bach, PTN and Buzzers were also taking fish.   Fish were well spread out around the main pond with different areas doing well on different days.   The island and channel were better at the beginning of the week with the bank from the dam to the boats doing well later on.   A cracking 9lb 4oz Rainbow was the biggest fish of the week and several others in the 4lb to 5lb range were also landed.   A good number of Blues and Golds feature in the catch returns along with several Browns returned.   The small ponds were also fishing well with the Meadow Pond in particular proving very productive for anglers on catch and release. The Fishery is currently open from 8.00am to 5.00pm every day.
