Lake of Menteith 2nd August 2017
Water Temperature – 16C, Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.9m .
A significant drop in temperature this week. Visiting Welsh Angler Phil Thomas (below left) did extremely well on Saturday night with a midge tip set up, fab on the point and diawl bachs above – catching 20 at Lochend. Unsurprisingly – that is what everyone is fishing now. Phil will be visiting again to compete in the Autumn international at the Lake in September. Top areas are Gateside, Western drifts and Lochend Kates Brae.
Heat 13 Scottish Club Championships Saturday 29nd July by Dennis Splaine. Mixed weather conditions with light winds dropping off to almost flat calm in some places with occasional heavy downpours. The boats were well scattered on the night with fish being caught in most areas. 56 fish were weighed in for 137lbs and 93 fish were released by the 30 anglers. Rod average 5.
