 2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) This last week at Forbes of Kingennie has been a fair bit colder than of late but the fishing has been on fire, with some really outstanding catches coming in from all the ponds. The Boathouse has been a bit coloured but the fish don’t seem to of minded with fish being caught at all levels and on a number of methods. The bung has been very consistent with a mix of Bugs, Worms and Buzzers fished underneath. A mixture of lures has taken fish with Damsels and Bloodworms working best. Mr Rose had 21 returned on Orange Buzzers and Squirmy Worms, his best was a rainbow of around 7lb and a brownie of 6lb. Mr Riddick’s returned 23 on a mix of lures and the bung. Mr Barrowman returned 17 on lures. Mr Bony had 2 for 6lb and put back 9. On the Burnside the fish have been up and down through the layers depending on the conditions. At times they have been just subsurface and when the wind gets up as deep as 6 feet has been necessary. With the water a bit clearer the buzzer fishing has been really good as well as the usual bung, lures and dries. Mr Hay returned 24 on a mix of flies up to 5lb, Mr Thompson had 23 on Buzzers and a Fab up to 9lb, Mr McGowan had 15 on a Black Blob up to 7lb, Mr Watson had 16 on Fabs and Buzzers and Mr Grey had 14 on a Bloodworm. The most productive areas were where there was shelter from the wind which, when the wind was in the east, was from the dam along to the fisherman’s hut and round the corner from the boats. At the weekend, the Browns were particularly active on the surface and accounted for approximately one third of all fish caught. The Fishery is now open every day from 8.00am to 9.00pm
