4. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The main feature of the weather this week was the persistent cold wind and bright sunny days, but despite this it was another good weeks fishing at Swanswater with a large number of fantastic Brown Trout caught.
During the brighter spells, when mostly Rainbows were feeding anglers had to go down to about 4 feet to find the fish, using sink tip or intermediate lines with lures including Ace of Spades and Hot Head Damsels. The Browns however preferred the overcast periods and seemed to thrive in the blustery conditions, were they were chasing traditional flies, including Kate McLaren, Bibio and Diawl Bach just under the surface. The water temperature is remaining fairly constant at 10 degrees which means the fish are wide spread around Swanswater including around the wooded island and the top end.
