4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) With the colder nights and some beautiful days the water has now cooled down - it had a much longer spell than most years being very warm and this of course was good for the life in the water. The fish are mainly being caught just under the surface to about 3 -4 feet especially when the sun is shining brightly.
Robert Wright from the Linden FFC had 4 fish for 14lbs on a Damsel, John Wright, Linden FFC, 4 for 12lbs 8oz on a Goldie, Gerry Rattray, Blackford, 1 at 6lbs 12oz on a Hare’s Ear, J Livsey, Cumbernauld, 2 for 6lbs on a Mini Yellow Dancer and Kevin O'Brien from Stenhousemuir used a Black Zonker to catch 4 for 12lbs 8oz. 5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Although very autumnal the more settled weather has led to some excellent fishing at Swanswater this week. The start of colder nights has made fishing hard in the early mornings but the nice weather during the day has meant the crystal clear water has remained at 10 degrees, with the sun warming things significantly to see fish remaining in the top 2 feet of the water, with some even being tempted to the surface with Muddlers and Shipman’s Buzzer. Fish remain wide spread on Swanswater, with the Dam and bay past the boats doing well at the start of the week, with signs the fish were moving towards the Island and up the Channel at the weekend. Best patterns this week were Buzzer, Bibio, Snatcher, Hare’s Ear and a selection of mini lures in various colours, including Yellow Dancer, Hot Head Damsel and with anything black and green doing well at the end of the week.
