2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Weather conditions varied during the week with the best fishing being in anything other than a due easterly wind. It is now at the point where we really do need some rain as water-levels are beginning to fall fairly steadily. The Boathouse Pool fished well most of the week with decent numbers of fish being caught but the bigger fish were somewhat more elusive. Mr. Grey returned thirteen (mixture of Dries and Buzzers); S. Hawkins took two rainbows for 6lbs 8oz and returned a further six (Shipman’s and Black Buzzers) whilst J. Edwards returned nine on a small Yellow Dancer. Some excellent sport has been had on dry flies on the Burnside Pool. John Crowther returned eleven (Dries and Buzzers) with Kane Crowther (aged 10) putting in an excellent performance to return fourteen most of which were taken on a Squirmy. Several of the season ticket holders have just edged into double figures but, as with the Boathouse Pool, the larger fish have been absent. On the Bankside Pool, a variety of flies and methods have been successful. George Birse returned 27 and Frank Sherriff 24 taken on Buzzers, Bloodworm imitations or Floating Fry patterns. The best methods on the any legal method Woodside Pool were again Powerbait or spinning, although maggots fished beneath a float did produce a few decent catches. Mr. James had four rainbows for a total of 8lbs 4oz; Mr. Trent took four for 6lbs 12oz and Mr. Strengano landed four weighing 6lbs 4oz.
3. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco). The lovely weather has brought an unbelievable abundance of fly life on top of the water and loads of life in the water. At times, the flies on the top makes it look like it is raining there are so many it is fascinating to watch nature at its best.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was a great week at Swanswater for those wishing to enjoy being out in the glorious sunny weather.Unfortunately great weather for suntans is not great weather for fishing and it was sometimes a bit of a struggle to get fish this week. On the occasions when there was some cloud cover; including Saturday and Sunday mornings, the fishing was better with the fish coming up to just below the surface. For most of the rest of the week they were 4 to 6 feet down and rather lethargic. In the evenings, they were just under the surface of the small ponds but all that was showing on Swanswater were lots of small natural browns. A couple of big Tigers were landed this week and several Browns also figured in the returns, all taken on a faster retrieve than that needed to attract the Blues and Rainbows. Many anglers were reporting follows, swirls and knocks but unfortunately these were not translating into fish taking. The fish were in different parts of the pond at different times of day with the areas offering some sort of shade doing best. Favourite patterns included Dancer, Hot-head Damsel, Buzzer,Diawl Bach, Gold-head Daddy, Bibio and Snatcher. Black was the most successful colour. The Fishery is open 8.00am to 10.00pm, seven days a week.
