SWANSWATER (Stirling) Cool, windy weather at the start of the week made things a little harder but there was still plenty of excellent sport to be had at Swanswater. The temperature started to rise at the weekend and things are looking very good for the coming week.During the breeziest times the fish were down wind and mostly in the top 3 feet or so.For much of the week the fish were feeding on beasties that were falling from or being blown off the trees, so many were caught in areas where trees overhang the bank.Hot spots included the area around the big tree, the island fishing towards the wooded island, and the roadside.A good number of Browns featured in the catch returns, being taken all round the water, along with some good sized Rainbows and Tigers. Favourite patterns included Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Hare’s Ear, Buzzer, Kate McLaren, Diawl Bach and various other small nymphs. On the small ponds, many anglers were having a lot of luck using a variety of dry flies including Spiders and Sedges, as the more sheltered conditions meant the fish were taking off the top. Opening hours continue to be 8.00am to 9.00pm.
