The top taking flies and lures included the Coral & Yellow Dancers, Bloodworm, Kate McLaren Olive Damsel, Okey Dokey and Crunchers whilst the fish are now being caught in all areas.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The best of the fishing this week has been enjoyed by those who have been prepared to adapt to the changing weather conditions. Even in the high winds there have still been some decent returns taken by anglers who have been prepared to move around and find the fish. The Boathouse Pool was at its best in clear water condition. Dry flies, Buzzers and small lures all produced results. Decent numbers of fish were also taken on the Burnside, especially on evenings when a gentle westerly breeze blew. On Saturday we were delighted to again host Davie Simpson’s annual “May Day Bash” on the Boathouse and Burnside with 22 anglers taking part. A great day was had by all and everyone caught. 58 fish were taken for a combined total of 170lbs and a further 77 were released. Jonny Adams was the eventual winner with three fish for 14lbs 12oz and a further seven returned. The biggest rainbow was taken by Kevin Mackintosh at 8lbs 10ozs. Davie landed a bottle of whisky and Karen caught a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers. Thanks to all for such an enjoyable and well run outing. Bankside proved quite difficult in the wind but Mr. Watson conquered the conditions to take seventeen fish on catch/release including one at 7lbs. The Woodside Pool fished steadily with Powerbait again bringing out the best results. A few of the bigger fish again fell to spinners.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) There were some excellent catch and release return last week with Mark Anderson from Edinburgh leading the field with 13 on Rabbits. 4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It was another week of very mixed weather for May, which makes the fishing more challenging as the depth changes rapidly in a very short time. Robert McKinnon from Dunblane took 4 fish for 15lbs on a Montana, Jim Black, Stirling, 4 for 13lbsd 8oz on a Kate McLaren, Dave Lawson, Methven, 3 for 13lbs – best 7lbs 8oz on a Howie's Gismo and George Hamilton from Blackford used a Yellow Dancer to take 2 for 6lbs. Dougie McKenrick from Alva caught 2 for 6lbs on a Yellow Dancer, Bob Ross, Kilsyth, 2 for 7lbs on an Ally and Harry Isherwood from Cumbernauld took 2 for 5lbs on a Pink & White Lure.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The persistent cold wind kept the fish below the surface for most of the week, with heavy rain midweek colouring the water for a day or so.   The warmer conditions at the weekend saw fish coming up to dries on Saturday until it got too bright and sunny, when nymphs were working better.   Rain and cold on Sunday put the fish down a little again. There was a slight rise in water temperature, to 9oC, and this saw the fish move up the channel and begin to get caught behind the islands and at the roadside. The most successful pattern this week was Hare’s Ear fished on either a floating or intermediate line, with other favourites being the usual lures – Cat’s Whisker and Dancer, nymphs such as Damsel, PTN and Diawl Bach, and wets including Kate McLaren and Black Spider.Static Buzzers were not doing as well as sometimes as the fish were looking for something to chase. Please note that the Fishery will close at 5.30pm on Saturday 16 May, otherwise we are open 8am to 9pm every day.
Peter Baird, Denny, 7lb 9oz Brown, Willie Nyguist, Stirling, made two visits to the Fishery at the weekend taking 3 Blues for 9lb 12oz on Saturday and 4 for 17lb 8oz including 2 Blues, bigger one at 6lb, and a Tiger on Sunday and Gordon Maybury, Bathgate, 5 for 18lb 8oz including 5lb 12oz Brown, 3lb 8oz Tiger and 2 Blues. William Andrews, Kirkintilloch, 2 for 6lb including a Blue and John Campbell, Derek Hewitt and David Young, Newcastle, in three visits this week, caught and released 48.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) Unfortunately the poor weather spoiled the fishing for the best part of the week but never the less those who did venture out did pretty well. The fly fishers who used the Yellow Dancer, Ace of Spades, Ally McCoist and the Black & Green Rabbit were well rewarded with Peter Stark from Kirkintilloch catching 3 for 8lbs on an Ally, Archie Stark took 2 for 8lbs and David Stewart from Lenzie had one returned that weighed 4lbs.
