Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 04 May 2015. The report is for the week ending Sunday, 03 May 2015.

On the club front Pentland Civil service A/C kept 48 fish weighing 94lb 14oz and returned a further 18.
The top taking flies and lures have included the Coral Dancer, Bloodworm, various Cormorants and the Ace of Spades whilst the best fishing area is on the south shore from the start of dog leg to the dam wall.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Sunday brought some very welcome rain which has refreshed the pools and should result in even better fishing returns. The Boathouse Pool has produced some excellent fishing, especially in clear conditions which suited Nymphs and Buzzers. Flavio showed his ability to read the water by catching and returning a dozen fish taken on a variety of patterns. Buzzers and Black & Green Lures have been amongst the more reliable flies. There has been some outstanding evening fishing on the Burnside where dry flies and buzzers have proved their worth. Several catch and release anglers including Ian Barlow, Kenny Spottiswood, George Birse and Ken Jones have returned good numbers of fish. Again a variety of patterns and methods have succeeded and it is often a case of knowing when to switch patterns and methods in order to maximise results. The Bankside Pool is more open to the wind but in the right conditions it can produce some superb fishing. Nick Soave took 14 rainbows on a mixture of dry flies and Nymphs, whilst Ian Gordon returned 10. Angus Dixon included a beautifully conditioned rainbow estimated at 5lbs+ in his total. On Saturday, Powerbait again hit the jackpot being the best bait on the Woodside (any legal method), where 38 fish were taken for a total of 51lbs. Several fish were also taken on small Mepps-type spinners.
The Osprey has made a welcome return to the resort and has been entertaining us with its fishing abilities.
3. MARKLE (East Lothian) The 6 man competition at the weekend attracted 14 teams that landed 53 fish for 151lbs and the winners were Team Markle with 17 fish for 53lbs. 4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been a quiet week with the turn in the weather back to winter but the anglers who have braved the wind have been rewarded with plenty of fish being caught on a wide variety of flies.

David Brown from Stirling caught 3 for 9lbs 4oz on an Ally McCoist and Jack Gibb, Clackmannan, had 2 for 6lbs 8oz on a Diawl Bach.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) April ended on a cold, breezy and showery note with hail and sleet mixed through the rain showers; May started with very similar daytime weather and some overnight frost! Despite the cold conditions the fishing remained very good and the fish were mostly to be found between 2 and 5 feet down. Most days they were moving round the pond as the day went on – at the dam first thing, then moving to the big tree, the far bay and then the channel and round the back of the islands later in the day. Small lures, nymphs and a few wet flies were taking fish with the most successful patterns being Cat’s Whisker, Humungus, Dancer, Damsel, Hare’s Ear, Diawl Bach, Buzzer and Kate McLaren. A good number of Tigers and Browns figure in this week’s catch returns alongside the Blues, Rainbows, Golds and Greens with several fish in the 4lb to 5lb range being taken.
John Mathieson, Stirling, made two successful trips this week taking 4 Tigers for 12lb 14oz at the beginning of the week, and 3 for 10lb 12oz including 5lb 3oz Brown and 2 Tigers on Friday afternoon. 6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) The fishing was spoiled for the best part of the week due to the bad weather with Saturday seeing gale force winds but despite this some good catches went into the book. Graham Brown from Kirkintilloch had a couple of nice rainbows with one tipping the scales just under the 10lb mark. At the present time lures are definitely doing better than the more traditional imitative patterns. The Bait Pond was also hard going with the wind misting up the water
Jim Rae from Kilsyth had 3 rainbows and 2 blues – best 6lbs o0n a Yellow Dancer, his grandson, Chris Rae had a couple of rainbows – best 8lbs and Mr Wright form Kilsyth had 3 for 9lbs.
