Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh 7 on lures and Mark Anderson, Edinburgh, took 7 on a Diawl Bach.
4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another very mixed week with the weather so let’s hope the change of the clock brings warmer weather. The fish again have been caught at varying depths according to the wind at the time, on a very wide variety of flies.
M Steadman from Perth took 2 fish for 7lbs on a Buzzer, Manwell Geraldus, Hallbeath, 3 for 8lbs on a Cat, J. Dalgleish, Airdrie, 3 for 8lbs 8oz on a Black Damsel and Hamish Carmichael from Alloa took a brace weighing 6lbs 8oz on an Ally McCoist. John Lewis from Sutton Coldfield had 3 for 8lbs 8oz on a Snake, John Kilgannon, Stirling, 2 for 5lbs on a Green Dancer, Rab McKinnon, Dunblane, 4 for 12lbs on an Ace of Spades and Greig Lockhart from Dunblane used a Yellow Dancer to take 4 for 12lbs 8oz. John Thomson from Fallin had 4 for 13lbs 4oz on Buzzers and Richard Jackson from Perth took 2 for 6lbs on a Black Tadpole.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) In a week of mixed weather conditions the one constant was the cold wind which varied from a breeze to nearly gale force at times. This kept the fish down around 3 feet deep, but even deeper at the windiest times. On the more sheltered small ponds fish were to be found in the top couple of feet.Heavy rain overnight on Friday led to an influx of dirty water on Saturday but this cleared well for Sunday and the start of the new week.On the windiest days the fish were to be found up-wind with most being taken in the far bay and around the boat jetty area, but generally they were well spread out round the main pond and those anglers doing best were those prepared to move about and go looking for fish.On certain days the boats did well as the fish moved out from the edges. The best flies in the wind were lures and nymphs, with buzzers and wet flies doing better on the small ponds and on calmer days, with all the usual favourite patterns taking fish. Now that the clocks have changed, Fishery opening hours are currently 8am to 8pm.
Craig Smith 3 Blues for 11lb 10oz biggest one at 4lb 8oz, Chris Kerr, East Kilbride, 5 for 17lb 2oz including 2 Blues and a Tiger, Kimin Smith, Plean, 5 for 16lb 12oz including 3 Blues and 2 Tigers, Alan Harvey, Glasgow, 5 for 15lb 4oz including 3 Blues and a Tiger and Barry Hamilton, Muirhead, 5 for 15lb including 2 Blues and a Gold. Donald McMurchy, Fallin, 5 for 15lb including 3 Blues, Allan Laing, East Kilbride, 5 for 14lb 12oz including 4 Blues and a Tiger, John Alcock, Alexandria, 4 for 15lb 8oz including a Blue and a Tiger, John Mathieson, Doune, 4 for 12lb 12oz including 4lb Blue and a Tiger and Ian Watson, Alexandria, 4 for 12lb 12oz including a Blue and a Tiger. Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 12lb 8oz including 2 Blues and a Tiger, George Kochanek, Tullibody, 4 for 12lb including 3 Blues, Liam Murray, Glasgow, 4 for 11lb including 3 Blues biggest at 4lb, Jack Dixon, Stenhousemuir, 3 for 10lb 4oz including 2 Blues and Frank Barr, Falkirk, 3 for 9lb 12oz including a Blue. Jim Allan, Kilsyth, 2 Tigers for 6lb 12oz, Alec Goodwin, Glasgow, 2 for 6lb 8oz,Mike Baldwin, Glasgow, 2 for 6lb including a Blue and a Tiger, Adam Wywial, Grangemouth, 2 for 6lb, including a Blue, from the Millpond plus 7 returned and Stuart Galloway, Bannockburn, caught and returned 9 including 2 Greens and a Brown estimated at 6lb.
6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) Most of the fish still being caught deep so sinking lines teamed up with the Yellow Dancer, Ally McCoist and the Damsel Nymph is a good bet. Last week saw lots of limit catches so there will be a restocking on Wednesday this week to keep up stock in fishery. All the fishing stances are now in the new bait pond so it is just a matter of waiting for water to clear then get it stocked for opening.
Last week Mr Currie from Glasgow had 2 for 8lbs, Mr Barr, Kirkintilloch, 1 at 2lbs 8oz, Mr Gillespie, Balloch, 4 for 8lbs 8oz and Mr Muir & Mr Dodds shared 6 weighing 22lbs – heaviest 7lbs 8oz.
