The top taking flies and lures included the Ally McCoist, Cats Whisker, Buzzers, Hot Head Damsel, Nomad, Snatchers and Damsels and the best areas were on the south shore from the Smithscleuch Burn to the Dam Wall.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Well spring seems to finally be on its way with the slightly longer and warmer days we are seeing the first hatches of flies and a few fish starting to rise a lot more freely although it depends on the weather that day. With all this the fish are much higher in the water than of late and has made catching them a lot easier.  This may be one of the reasons the Burnside has been fishing so fantastically well. Over Saturday, Sunday and Monday there was a total of 224 fish caught and released by 26 anglers. Some of the top rods included Mr Stuart 22 c+r, Mr Robertson 20 c+r, Mr Barlow 16 c+r 1at 7lb, Mr Gaul 14 c+r 1 at 6lb, Mr Gibson 13 c+r, Mr Costello 5 c+r 1at 9lb. These fish have been falling to any number of methods including Buzzers, Black Nymphs, Bloodworms, Cormorant, Blobs, Yellow Dancers and the Humungous. The water is still slightly coloured but as you can see it hasn’t affected the fishing. The Boathouse has been quite dirty over the weekend after the heavy rain but the rods that did fish it were rewarded with some good returns, Mr Bairner had 4 for 9lb with 11 returned, Mr West had 3 for 11lb with best a 6lb 11oz rainbow. Mr Henderson did well while on catch and release having 10 fish with the best estimated at 9lb. Most of the fish have been on lures due to the water colour but as it clear smaller flies will really start to come into their own. The Bankside has started to pick up with the fish becoming a lot more spread throughout the pond. The second bay and the north bank still seem to be the favoured spots thou. In the space of 2 days Mr Simpson had a total of 27 fish with the best around 8lb with several fish in the 3-4lb range. A mixture, between lures on a fast glass and Squirmies fished under the bung are doing the damage. Mr Jones had 9 on Nymphs under the bung including a blue of around 5lb. The Woodside has been busier in the past week with the nicer weather bringing out the anglers, the water in the Woodside is very clear now and the spinner has been very good as to have worms and as always Powerbait is doing very well. There were no monsters out but Mr Main took the biggest of the week with a 3lb 11oz fish taken on the spinner.
The second round of the SANA bank nationals is on Sunday here at Kingennie and there are 3 spaces left so if anyone is interested in putting their name down to have a chance at representing the re country please call 01382 350777/350213 for more details

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was another unsettled week, weather-wise, with a lot of rain and wind which kept all but the brave away.   The hardy ones who faced the elements were mostly well rewarded.   Despite heavy rain midweek and at the weekend, the water remained relatively clear.  The water temperature was between 3o and 4oC all week and although the fish were fairly deep down they remained active.   They were well spread out round the pond although at certain times the hotspots included the front of the island, the roadside and the far bay.   A good variety of different coloured fish feature in the catch returns with some superb Blues, Greens and Golds being landed.    Lures which provided a bit of movement were more successful this week than static buzzers, with favourite patterns being Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Humungus, Tadpole and Fritz.
