3. MARKLE (East Lothian) The cooler weather has got the fish feeding hard resulting in some excellent catches coming off. Best basket last week was Tommy Dickson with 14 fish on Crunchers – best 9lbs and Robert Nicol from Livingston included one at 6lbs 8oz in his bag of 8 taken on a Black Taddie. Tom Russell jnr. From Earlston used Buzzers to bag 12, Alex Rowley, Dalkeith, 7 on Dries, P Hogg, Edinburgh 6 on Buzzers and Chris McGhee from Musselburgh caught 4 on the Bibio. 4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) Although the fish are still taking a variety of dries and lures they have to be tempted slowly with such an abundance of natural feeding in the water just now. With the clear water you can see if they are going to take your fly or not so it is good sport. The Live Line FC (H.E) had a good day taking 36 fish for 89lbs 4oz with G. McKinnon taking the heaviest basket with 3 fish for 11lbs 12oz - the best tipping the scales at 5 lbs.

Jamie Deans from Stirling used a Pheasant Tail Nymph to bag 2 for 7lbs and Stewart Terry, Perth, 3 for 9lbs 12oz on Dries and Buzzers.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was another week of ups and downs at Swanswater with some days fishing really well and others a bit harder.   The showery, breezy weather mid-week helped to freshen things up and conditions improved towards the weekend with beautiful clear water and a light breeze to create a nice ripple.   The fish were spread out all round the main pond, with the areas around the big tree, around the bridge and behind the island the best places to catch Tigers and Browns.   The fish were mostly in the top 2 to 3 feet of the water, although they were sometimes a little deeper at the dam; on the small ponds they were taking just under or on the surface.   Favourite patterns included the usual small lures, nymphs such as Hare’s Ear, Diawl Bach and Buzzer, and wets including Kate McLaren and Black Pennell.   Dry flies, including Hopper, Daddy, Sedge and Gnat were working on the small ponds, in the burn area and sometimes on the main pond in the evenings.
Archie Campbell, Wishaw, 6lb Rainbow, Frank Barr, Falkirk, 3 for 12lb 8oz including 5lb 8oz Rainbow, Peter O’Brien, Camelon, 5 for 17lb 4oz including 4lb 8oz Brown, Stephen Mason, and son Jordan, Cumbernauld, shared 6 for 21lb 8oz including 3 Blues and Donald McMurchy, Fallin, 4 for 14lb including a Blue.
