2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) As Summer progresses there are more numerous hatches of insects and the trout are sometimes feeding selectively, making catching them a little more difficult. However, there have still been some excellent catches recorded during the week. Water clarity in the Boathouse Pool is improving, allowing fish to be stalked and individually targeted. Hugh Bairner caught his limit which included a rainbow trout of 11LBS 4OZ. Damsels and Yellow Dancer have accounted for a number of fish. There is a small amount of algae bloom on the Burnside Pool but this hasn’t stopped the fish from feeding steadily. Some evenings have witnessed substantial rises but it hasn’t always been easy to turn sightings into fish landed. Good catches have been taken on dry flies like the Shipman’s, Sedges, Crunchers; a variety of Buzzers, mainly black/red or black/green or lures fished deep. Mr Ramshaw took 4 fish for 9lb and put back another 9. On the shallower Bankside Pool the majority of fish have responded to buzzers but on certain evenings there have been some excellent results on dries like the Sugar Cube Shipman’s, Sedge varieties and Hoppers). A very large fish has been seen on several occasions. Woodside Pool, the any legal method pond, has had a number of people catch their limit including two separate catches of five fish weighing 10lbs. Green or orange Powerbait has as usual resulted in the best catches although a few of the larger  fish have been taken

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The water has been fishing well with floating lines and all kinds of flies from small dries to lures have caught fish. The fish can be seen quite clearly swimming just under the surface but with all the natural feeding and the temperature of the water anglers have had slow down their retrieve to give them time to take.
David Pitcaithly from Falkirk had a brace weighing 6lbs on a Black Nymph, A Hay,          Falkirk, 2 for 5lbs 4oz on a Daddy, Graham King, Almondbank 3  fish for 10lbs 8oz on a Yellow Owl, Jim Carrick, Cumbernauld, 2 fish for 6 lbs on a Yellow Dancer and Brian Martin from Alva used an Ally McCoist to catch 4 fish for 11lbs 4oz – best 5lbs 8oz. 5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The warm settled weather continued for most of the week and the water temperature remained at 18oC until a couple of cooler nights brought it down to 15oC on Sunday morning.   This drop in temperature also increased the oxygen level in the water and brought relief to the fish.   For most of the week the fish were to be found all round the main pond and in the top 2 to 3 feet of the water.   Most of the surface activity was in the mornings, although in general not many fish were actually breaking the surface.   On the small ponds, they were usually to be found in the top 6 inches and were taking a variety of dry flies.   On Swanswater wets, nymphs and small lures were all doing well with the favourite patterns being Dancer, Damsel, Daiwl Bach, Buzzer, Hare’s Ear, Hopper, Kate McLaren and Sedgehog. Browns and Tigers are still featuring in the catch returns along with some cracking Blues. The Fishery staff are frequently receiving lots of comments about the superb quality and fighting ability of the fish.
