The first heat of the SANACC National Championships took place at the Lake on Tuesday 22nd April. The 28 anglers caught and weighed in 148 fish for 300lbs and a further 203 fish were returned.
Top rod on the day was Ian Wilson of Clatto and Stratheden with 16 fish. Ian was at Tod Hole and International Bay fishing a cat booby, candy booby and diawl bach on a di3. In 2nd place was  David Downie of D & B Flyfishing (14 fish) who concentrated Gateside Bay with similar flies and line. In third place was 2013 Champ Kevin McCabe with 14 on buzzers and midge tip in Gateside. The wind perhaps accounted for the heavier lines as when the wind has been lighter the fish have been near the top. Best areas have been Shear Point, International Bay, Lochend/Tod Hole and Gateside.
