Fishing report by Jim Boyd.
ANGLING PRESS SERVICES
Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 30 September 2013.
The following report is for the week ending Sunday, 29 September 2103.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) Included in the best individual returns was Archie
Davidson from Stirling who kept 4 fish weighing 10lb, Matthew Connelly & Dave
Lamb, East Kilbride, 8 fish for 14lb, Kenny MacMillan, Perth, kept 3 fish weighing 7lb

had 4 fish for 8lb 8oz. The top taking fly patterns included Hoppers, Daddies,
Hoppers, Snatchers and Blobs whilst the best fishing area is on the North Shore
from the dogleg to the dam wall.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) There has been a huge deal of
excitement this week at Forbes of Kingennie - after a very long hot summer and
very low water levels extensive work has been carried on the Bankside to deepen
the bays and create two islands and combat the weed problems. The work has now
finished and the water is on its way back up. A date has not been decided yet for the
grand reopening due to the length of time it may take to fill up without any substantial
rainfall.
The fishing through the week has been great with the Burnside continuing to fish
really well with fish being caught on anything from small dries and nymphs in the
surface when the fish have been high in the water. Fishing deeper with lures such as
the Rob Roy, Yellow Dancer and Blobs has been the best tactic when the weather
has been cooler. Mr Findley had a great afternoon on Saturday releasing 11 fish on
a black and green lure and a couple on a Shipman's Buzzer. The Boathouse is still
very clear and the fish continue to be fussy but fishing very early and late seems to
see them drop there guard and become a lot more active. The best fish this week
was taken by Mr Hunter with an 8lb 14oz rainbow taken on a mini Yellow Dancer.
There have also been several more browns caught as well with the largest weighing
just over 4lbs.The Woodside has been fishing superbly now that the water level
is less than a foot from being back to full height. Powerbait continues to dominate
as the best method but as long as you find the fish they have been falling to most
baits. Mr Hamilton took a cracking bag of 5 fish for 11lb with the best being a 3lb 9oz
rainbow all falling to ledgered green Powerbait.
3. MARKLE (East Lothian) There were plenty of big fish off last week with Kevin
Jenkinson from Musselburgh leading the pack with a beauty of 14lbs 12oz taken
on a Black & Green Rabbit, R Kekchin, Edinburgh, used a Hare’s Ear to take on at
13lbs 8oz and L McGraw from Edinburgh took one at 12lbs 8oz on a Diawl Bach.
Tommy Dickson, Dunbar, had one at 10lbs 8oz on a Diawl Bach and P Walkinshaw
from Gorebridge caught one at 9lbs. The catch and release anglers did well with
Paul Kennedy from unbar taking 16 on dries, B O’Brien, Edinburgh had 12 on a
Black Rabbit and John Duncan from Perth managed 16 on Buzzers. The Bon Accord
AC from Shotts had a good outing taking 20 fish weighing 43lbs 8oz.
4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It was been another good week for fishing although the
wind has changed the depth at which the fish taking some days but for this time of
the year it has continued to be good. Again the fish are being caught from on the top
to about 2 -3 feet down on anything from small dried to dries and a wide variety of
lures. Dave Wilkie from Stirling took 4 fish for 16lbs – best 5lbs 4oz on a Hot Head
Damsel, Hector Wilson, Bannockburn, 4 for 11lbs 4oz – best 4lbs 8oz on a Blob,
Robert Chapman, Linlithgow, 4 for 10lbs on a Buzzer and John McKenzie from Perth
took a nice trout of 4lbs 8oz on a Dry Daddy. Jake Munroe from Perth had 4 fish
for 10lbs on a Yellow Owl, Stewart Cairns, Perth, 4 for 11lbs on Buzzers, Jon Abel,
Bride of Earn, 1 for 3lbs on a Black Fry and Alan Stirling from Auchterarder had 3 for
9lbs 4oz on the Daddy. Allan McComsky from Moodiesburn had a brace weighing
9lbs on Buzzers and Bryon Martin, Alva, took 3 for 10lbs on Buzzers.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Warmer weather, together with a rise in water
temperature seemed to slow the fishing in the first part of the week. However, from
Wednesday onwards, a return to the more seasonal weather made the fish much
more active again. The cooler nights and occasional showers freshened things
up and the fish were generally being caught in the top 2 feet of the water, but the
areas around the dam and the overflow have been particularly good. Early in the
week nymphs, wets and lures were all fishing well, in particular PTN, Hares Ear,
Black Pennell, Damsels and Dancers. Occasional fish were coming up to a Sedge
on the Surface. Later in the week it was Buzzers fished static which proved more
productive.
Frank Barr, Falkirk, 5 for 18lb including 3 Blues biggest 4lb 12oz, plus 4 caught
and released, Donald McMurchy, Fallin, 5 for 16lb 10oz including 4 Blues and

Kirkintilloch, one at 2lbs 9oz on a Buzzer and Martin Black from Kirkintilloch used a
