5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The best results this week were achieved by anglers
using nymphs, buzzers and some small lures.     Although fish have been seen on
the surface, they are still taking between 2 and 5 feet down.    Intermittent evening
rises have led to a few fish being taken on dries with mayfly and sedge patterns
being the most popular.   The humid conditions at the weekend made for challenging
fishing, especially on Swanswater, but the small ponds fished well and provided
plenty sport for anglers willing to move around the Fishery.   Blues and Tigers
continue to figure in the catch returns, with many of the Tigers being taken around
the mouth of the burn where the water is fresher.

Stuart Sutherland, Milton of Campsie, 4 for 13lb 8oz including 2 Blues, bigger one at
6lb, Kevin McCallum, Dunfermline, 5lb 8oz Tiger, Neil Irvine, Livingston, 5 for 17lb
4oz including a Blue and 4 Tigers, Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 for 13lb including 3

Dobbie, Glasgow, 5 for 12lb 4oz including a Blue, Donald McMurchy, Fallin, 5 for
12lb including 3 Blues, Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 10lb 4oz including 3 Blues
and Nan Morrison, Stirling, 4 for 10lb including 3 Blues. Iain MacDonald, Alva, 3 for
8lb 8oz, Mike Chubb, Stirling, 3 for 8lb including a Blue, followed by 5 caught and
released on the small ponds, Kevin Lowe, Larbert, 2 for 6lb including a Tiger and Jim
Craig, Balloch, 3lb 8oz Tiger.

6. WOODBURN FISHERY (Milton of Campsie) Last week was a busy one with the
nice weather encouraging plenty of trout anglers, both bait and fly, to visit Scotland’s
newest fisheries. On the bait front Barry Haggerty from Kirkintilloch used maggot to

8oz. Pat Harte from Bishopbriggs safely returned 2 brown trout at 3lbs 8oz and kept

rainbows for 7lbs 8oz – best 3lbs 6oz..

Last Saturday, fishing in pretty wet conditions, Dougie Ingles and Simon Littlejohn
from Kilmarnock spent the full day and had a great time catching and releasing 25
fish mainly on a Black Rabbit lure. Fish of the week went to John Shaw from Kilsyth
who caught and safely returned, after a twenty minute battle, a terrific 12lb brown
