5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Once again the strong, cold wind was affecting the
depth fish were being caught. During the week the fish were mainly caught with
intermediate lines on lures. With a rise in water temperature at the weekend the fish
were starting to be seen rising, although they were feeding just under the surface as
none could be tempted to dry flies. The best patterns were Cats Whisker, Damsel,
Dancer, Diawl Bach, Hares Ear and Buzzers. Currently fish are feeding around 2 to 3
feet down and all around the main pond. The small ponds are continuing to fish well
and remain a little more sheltered on the windy days, with 3 anglers releasing 22 fish
in a 2 hour spell on Friday evening. The biggest fish of the week was an 8lb Rainbow
caught by William Hendry of Airdrie, and the biggest Tiger of the week was caught
by Ian Kellow of Bishopbriggs weighing 5lb.

6. WOODBURN FISHERY (Milton of Campsie) Woodburn, Scotland’s newest trout

that persisted for most of that time.
Featuring amongst the best catches on the fly was John Patrick from Kilsyth who
kept 3 fish for 5lbs 8oz and returned a cracking 15lb rainbow and Mark Anderson,
also from Kilsyth, retained 4 fish weighing 10lbs 8oz and returned a specimen brown
trout that tipped the scales at 11lbs. Fishing on a catch and release ticket Eddie

Caffrey, Cumbernauld, returned 10 rainbows and also a 10lb 2oz brown trout whilst

had 2 for 5lbs 12oz and returned a 4lb brown, Callum Clark, Torrance, had 4 for
approximately 12lbs on a C+R ticket and David Fisher, Glasgow, had a nice 2lb 8oz
rainbow. On the bait fishing front there were lots of limit catches but Messrs. Crainey
& Finlay from Kirkintilloch shared 8 fish for 17lbs.
At the present time the recommended flies are the Fritz Montana, Cat’s Whisker, Ally
McCoist, Yellow Dancer, the red eyed Damsel and the good old Black & Green Fritz
