Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 25 February
2013.The following reports is for the week ending Sunday, 24 February 2103.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) The fishery will open its 2013 season this coming Friday –

1st March - and the great news is that there will be no changes to the pricing

structure with the exception of a small increase from £8 to £10 for the hire of the

petrol outboards.

Dancers etc. that will work the best but surprisingly there is never any need to fish

them deep and anglers will find that fishing with either an intermediate line or even a

weighted lure on a floating line will do well. But, it is worth noting that a number of

the regulars fish with Buzzers from the start of the season right through to the end

with good results. As far as early season productive drifts are concerned anywhere

down the south shore and especially at the dam wall area will do well. The fishery

will continue with a weekly stocking policy with the fish initially weighing about 2lbs

to 2lbs 8oz with the introduction of larger fish 5 - 10lb periodically.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Kingennie experienced a mixture of

weather during the week and catches followed a similar pattern. The Boathouse

started slowly but had an excellent return on Sunday when thirteen fish were taken

for an overall total of 70lbs. Pride of place went to Hugh Bairner with four rainbows

At the start of the season it is the normal lures like the Damsel,

for 21lbs 8oz followed by Mr. Thompson who took two fish for 13lbs 8oz. Overall the

most successful patterns were small green and black lures. Burnside improved as

the week went on with Flavio returning eight fish on the catch and release option.

Small lures and Buzzers were top methods. The Woodside, any legal method/bait

pond, had two days which stood out from the rest. On Monday Joe Higgins took

seven rainbows on a spinner with the overall total for the day being ten fish for 16lbs

4oz and Sunday was also an extremely rewarding day with nineteen fish being

landed for a combined weight of 31lbs. Green Powerbait was again top bait but other

colours of Powerbait also did the trick. Bankside Pool went through some sulky

patches but did have some decent results. Richard Marshall returned six fish on a

Hare's Ear, with green and black lures again featuring prominently in many catches.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) LATE REPORT TO FOLLOW

4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) For the best part of the week the fish were being

taken just under the surface where they have been taken on a wide variety of flies

including the Damsel Nymph, Yellow Dancer, Pinkies and the Diawl Bach.

Included amongst the best baskets was Ronnie Stanovich from Glasgow with

3 fish for 9lbs on a Black Lure, Ian Grassam, Falkirk, 3 for 9lbs, Jim Cook,

4lbs on a Black & Green Fritz. Robin Hood from Kilsyth had one at 4lbs on an Ally

Steven, Stirling, 4 for 12lbs 8oz on Buzzers, Robert Steven, Stirling,

McCoist and Brian Forrest from Dunfermline caught 3 fish for 8lbs on an Olive Fritz.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The return to frosty nights has meant that the aerators

are back on at Swanswater and are doing a good job in keeping the ponds ice free.

During the day, the more settled weather has led to excellent conditions with crystal

clear water.

patterns this week included the usual favourites, Damsel, Dancer, Cat’s Whisker,

Humungus and Ace of Spades, with fish also taken on Buzzers and a few on Hare’s

Ear and Montana. The Tigers have moved out of the burn mouth and are being

caught all around the main pond, with the area beside the big tree being one of their

favourite spots. On the warmer days a few fish were being taken from the roadside

where the water is slightly shallower and warms up more quickly.

The fish are still spread out round the ponds but are lying deep and
