area was the Dogleg and the South shore to the dam wall.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The recent sunny, mild spell of

weather encouraged a good number of anglers to visit Kingennie. On Saturday the

Boathouse Pool produced eleven fish for a total weight of 58.25lbs. Top return went

to Liam Yule who caught two rainbows for 17lbs. These were taken on a mini damsel

fished on a sinking line and the bigger fish weighed 10lbs 8oz. On Sunday S. Green

took three rainbows for 21lbs 8oz and also returned an excellent brownie estimated

at around 3lbs.

The best catches of the week on the Burnside Pool were taken on Saturday in

the Burnside Competition. The clear winner was Davie Simpson with four fish for

8lbs 5ozs and a further 18 fish on catch and release....congratulations to Davie on

a great performance. Second was young Robert Gibson with four for 7lbs 5ozs and

3 returned. George Birse took third with four fish for 7lbs and 3 returned. Thanks to

all who participated. The next qualifier is on Saturday 6 April; there are only 10 rods

allowed so get those names rolling in. During the week George was again amongst

the fish with 11 on catch and release. Yellow Dancer and Hot Head Damsel were the

most successful lures.

The Bankside Pool proved quite challenging on several days with plenty of fish

showing but refusing to take most flies offered. However, Keith Prior managed to

land ten (catch and release) and John Barr released six. Nymphs and small lures

produced the majority of fish.

The Woodside Pool (bait/spinning pool) again saw most fish taking green Powerbait

although spinning with a small Mepps type bladed spinner produced some decent

fish. Mr. McDonald had four fish for 7lbs 8oz; Damien took four for 7lbs and Mr. Glen

had three for 6lbs 8oz.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The end of the week at Swanswater was much better

than the start when overnight frosts and calm, sunny days meant that, on some

days, conditions were quite hard.

However, as the week progressed and the temperature rose, the ice round the back

of the islands melted and anglers trying that part of the pond had a lot of success.

Favourite patterns this week included Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Damsel, Diawl Bach,
