Butterston loch

 BUTTERSTON LOCH

Rainbow And Brown Trout Fishing

 Butterston Loch

It has come to my attention that Loch Burtterston loch will no longer be open to the public !

Announcement

Due to mounting losses over the last three seasons and a decline year on year in bookings over the last seven years it has been decided it is no longer viable to keep Butterstone Loch trading as a fishery open to the general public. As a result Butterstone Loch will not be opening this coming season.

We at Cardney Estate would like to take this opportuntity to Thank you for your custom over the last three years.

This is such a shame, it is a lovely little water, I remember my first visit there with my club the, "Western Angling club"  which began in 1879, I was fishing with my elderly uncle John Glen in 2000, it was a lovely day we had been on the water for a while with no joy when an Osprey hit the water a flew off with a good  2 lb + rainbow in it's claws not feet from where we were, totally amazing!!

It turned out to be a fun filled day, I was on the oars as my uncle was in his 80's we had been fishing this little bay, rather than turn on the engine we decided to do the same drift again and I tried to manoeuvre the boat with the oars, my line was still in the water as I was rowing I could see my line start to move "fish on," the rod was by my uncle who is a little deaf I motioned that he should grab it as he was closer to it than me, not understanding my excitement he grabbed his rod and mine slipped over the edge !! Oh hell, I thought believing it to go straight to the bottom with a fish on, fortunately the handle floated and I was able to grab it before it disappeared and netted the fish ! We both got a couple that day and had a fab time.
