Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Tuesday, 24 January 2012
The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 22 January, 2012.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 2012

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing last week at Kingennie

has been excellent if not a little difficult as the water on all ponds is gin clear which

has forced anglers to refine their approach. On the Boathouse Pond a few of the

bigger fish come out with Joe Westland adding to his recent hauls. Since the turn

of the year he has managed to tempt two doubles with fish of 12lb 4oz and his new

personal best - a rainbow of 13lb 11oz.

Most fish coming off the Boathouse have been caught on Black and Green lures

fished on intermediate lines.

The Burnside continues to fish well with anglers taking fish on a wide range of

flies and lines - fishing floating line with dries and emergers and blobs and lures on

sinkers and intermediates have been good.

The Bankside is mainly fishing to small natural flies fished in the top couple of feet

of water; water clarity is very good with anglers really having to scale down on fly

size and leader diameter.

The Woodside Pool has not been too busy with bait anglers but those who have

fished have had good returns with green Powerbait fished on the bottom.

3. HOLL (Fife) NO REPORT UNTIL MARCH 2012

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was an extremely quiet week but those who fished

were well rewarded by catching some big specimen rainbows. Matty Devine from

Hagston used a Bloodworm to bag a great brace that tipped the scales at 24lbs 7oz

– best 14lbs 3oz and Peter Craig from Dunbar had a couple weighing 24lbs – best

14lbs – both taken on a Bloodworm. Jack Stevenson from Ormiston caught one

at 9lbs on a Dancer and Jock Dyatt, Dalkeith, had one at 11lbs 8oz on a Damsel

Nymph.

5. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

6. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It was been a very quiet week with the weather making

dramatic changes all the time. The water was frozen on Monday, clear on Tuesday

and at the weekend there was a little snow and frost - lovely first thing, ten windy and

today it was like spring. The fish have still been taking about 3 - 5 feet down and

taking most colours, with a slow retrieve and then a very good fight.

George McLuskie from Spittalfield had 2 fish for 6lbs on a White Fritz, Roy McLaren,

Denny, 3 for 7lbs 8oz on a Growler, Charlie Swan, Perth, 2 for 6lbs on a Damsel

and Alistair Lennox from Cupar took a nice 3lbs 4oz rainbow on a Damsel. William

Cowie, Airdrie had 3 fish weighing 7lbs 12oz on a White Dancer, Johnny Weir,

Airdrie, 3 for 8lbs on an Orange Fritz, Richard Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 10lbs 12oz on

a Black Green Nomad and Davy Black, Lochgelly, 3 for 7lbs on a Bloodworm.

7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORTS UNTIL MARCH 2012

8. SWANSWATER (Stirling)

UPDATE. The main pond at the fishery is still closed to allow the silt removal

operation to be completed but both the smaller waters are still open for business. A

further update will be made next week.

9. LOCH VENACHAR (Trossachs) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
