Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 03 October
2011.The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 02 October 2011.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) On the individual front Bob Dick & Geoff Hemmings from

Kinross kept 12 fish weighing 32lb – heaviest 7lb, John Ramsay & Ian McDonald

(Blackford) 4 for 16lb 8oz – heaviest 6lb & 5lb, Robert Paterson (Stirling) 2 fish

weighing 5lb and released 3, Gerry Grattan (Kincardine) kept 2 fish weighing 9lb –

heaviest 6lb 2oz and released a further 7 and David Seager (Edinburgh) kept 3 fish

weighing 9lb. Bernard Jackson from Blackford kept 2 fish weighing 5lb and Colin

Salmond & Party ( Inverkeithing) had 9 fish weighing 23lb – heaviest 4lb.

The angling clubs also produced some fin returns with the Vesuvius A/C keeping

20 fish weighing 42lb 4oz, Black Bull FFC had 46 fish weighing 110lb – heaviest

7lb 12oz, Perth Ex-Servicemen’s A/C 8 for 17lb, Moncrieffe A/C 14 for 39lb 6oz

– heaviest 6lb 9oz & 5lb and the Riverside FFC kept 3 fish weighing 12lb 8oz –

heaviest 7lb 8oz.

The best fly patterns have proved to be the Bibio, CDC Orange Hopper, Sedge

Muddler, Sedgehog, Red Diawl Bach, and the Coral & Yellow Dancer whilst the best

fishing area is on the south shore from the Dow Burn to the Dam wall.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Autumn has really set in at Forbes

of Kingennie and the cooler weather has made all the difference with all the ponds

starting to fish really well. The Boathouse has remained very clear with fish visibly

following flies then turning away. Floating lines and lures are still the most popular

method; small nymphs are also taking their fair share of fish. The average size

continues to be just under 5lb with the best fish this week taken by C Boyd with a

rainbow of 8lb 12oz on a Mini Cat.

The fish in the Bankside have really switched onto the fry now with large numbers

of fish in the second bay and in the middle to be seen crashing into fry shoals. If

you can reach them most fry patterns and lures have been taking them. Dry flies

have also been very consistent with Black Beetles and Sedge patterns taking good

numbers of fish. The best fish this week was taken by Mr Sawers with a brownie

estimated between 8 or 9lb the fish was taken on a small Dry Sedge before being

returned.

The Woodside has been very consistent with most anglers catching their limits.

The best method continues to be the worm with spinners a close second. For some

reason Powerbait hasn't been as effective as it usually is but still taking its share of

trout. The best bag this week was taken Mr Fyfe and his son with 8 trout for 12lb

12oz all on the spinner.

The Burnside has been fishing very well with most methods catching fish. Lures

such as the Hothead Damsel and the Bleeding cat are taking lots of fish as well as

Nymphs and Dries. The water is still very clear and this has helped the fishing now

that the water is cooling. The best fish taken this week was a 6lb 9oz rainbow taken

by G Birse. One lodge guest, Mr Parsons, had a very productive session taking 15

fish on a UV Cat all in the space of a couple of hours.

3. HOLL (near Kinross) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) The strange weather has kept the angling numbers well

down but those who have managed out have produced some terrific catches. Peter

Ash from Edinburgh used a Yellow Dancer to produce a brace weighing in at 30lbs

8oz with the best tipping the scales at 16lbs 8oz. Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh

wasn’t far behind with two for 27lbs 2oz – best 14lbs 8oz on a Black Lure and

Tommy Dickson from Dunbar used a Daddy to bag a great 15lb rainbow. W Stewart

from Stirling had a fish of 11lbs 12oz on a Diawl Bach and M Mackenzie, Edinburgh,

took a fine 14lb specimen on a Kate McLaren.

5. MORTON FISHERY (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The return to summer weather midweek followed by

heavy rain on Saturday saw a wide range of conditions at Swanswater this week.

Despite this the fish were in the top 18 inches of the water for most of the week,

even in the bright sunshine on Friday. Small lures, especially Cat’s Whiskers, were

working better than the wet flies and nymphs which have been working for the last

few months, with Dancer, Tadpole, Fritz and Damsel also amongst the favourite

patterns.

and looking for something to chase.

dry flies, such as daddy long legs, CDC and hopper, still doing well here.
