Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 26 September
2011.The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 25 September 2011.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) Mike Piper from Edinburgh kept 3 fish weighing 17lb
8oz – heaviest 8lb, Ian Gibson & Jock McKenzie (Edinburgh) 6 for 15lb 8oz, Gary
Fraser (Coatbridge) 5 fish weighing 13lb, Ian MacMaster (Cupar) 4 fish for 13lb
and Hamish Higgins (Perth) kept 2 fish weighing 6lb 8oz – heaviest 4lb 4oz and
released a further 4. Davie Richardson from Kincardine kept 2 fish weighing 7lb 8oz
and released a further 3, Paul & Irene Clarke (Glasgow) 6 fish weighing 20lb 4oz
– heaviest 7lb 4oz & 4lb and fishing with a sporting ticket Jim & Crawford McEwan
caught and released 15.
On the angling club front IBM A/C kept 32 fish weighing 95lb heaviest – 8lb & two at
7lb, Neptune Game F/C 13 fish weighing 42lb – heaviest 8lb & 7lb 8oz, Tullibole A/C
took 15 fish weighing 43lb 14oz heaviest 6lb 14oz and Leslie Llanilar A/C kept 7 fish
weighing 16lb.
The best flies and lures have proved to be the Ace of Spades, Sedge Muddler, and
Dabbler & Olive Damsel whilst all areas of the fishery are performing well.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Last week the fishing at Kingennie
has been fairly tricky with water clarity on all ponds very good. The Boathouse
anglers have been frustrated by fish following flies for the whole of a retrieve and
then turning away at the last moment. Lures and intermediate lines have taken most
of the fish but a few rods have had good returns with big dries like Foam Daddies
and the Daddy Hog. Fish on the Boathouse have been averaging 5lb with the
biggest fish a rainbow of just over 8lb, Ronnie Masson was the lucky angler who
managed to land the fish despite breaking the tip of his rod during the fight.
The Burnside Pool has been just as tricky with good water clarity meaning anglers
have had to scale down on leader strength and fly size. Floating lines have been the
line to use with the fish cruising just under the surface. Flies that have done well this
week have been small Buzzers, various CDC patterns and mini Hot Head Damsels.
The Bankside has had a fairly mixed week with the fish switching from sipping on
small naturals to chasing and bashing into fry patterns. Floating lines are still the line
of choice with the fish not too far below the surface again with the clear water there
has been a need to scale down on the strength of leader.
The Woodside Pool anglers have been faced with the same difficulties as the fly
anglers with the water clarity being very good. Anglers have needed to use much
lighter line than normal which has resulted in a few lost fish. Baits that have worked
well on Woodside have been worms and Powerbait and the killer fly of the week has
been the Orange Nomad.
3. HOLL (near Kinross) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
4. MARKLE (East Lothian) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

still been working as the fish have been taking on the top or just under the surface.
The dry fly has
This season has been fantastic for fishing dries and it has been because of the
abundance of natural fly life and the fact there has been very little sun to warm up
the water so the fish have not had to go to the bottom. With clear water and seeing
the fish taking your fly has meant lots of great sport has been enjoyed this season.
Jock Esplin from Bonnybridge has 3 fish for 13lbs 8oz – best 6lbs 8oz on a Gold Tail
Damsel, Leon De-Lange, Crieff, 2 for 8lbs – best 5lbs on a CDC, Leonard Tait, Crieff

7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) A mixed week weather-wise led to variable fishing
conditions, with the fish near the surface some days and much deeper on other
days.
At times they were feeding on or just below the surface and a selection of
nymphs, wet or dry flies were successful with Diawl Bach, Hare’s Ear, Montana,
Tullibody, 5 for 13lbs – best 4lbs on a Black & Green Fritz, Charlie
